Purple Ribbon Warriors

Go Purple! As we continue in the month of October, we recognize another group of honorary warriors. Last week, we placed the spotlight on Breast Cancer survivors and how their stories inspires us to “fight like a girl” to overcome any battle we face. This week we recognize our purple ribboned warriors, those who were or currently are victims of domestic violence.

The CDC reports that 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men are domestic violence victims at least once in their lifetime. This month is the time where we raise awareness and educate others on the severity of this issue. However, the fight is continuous. We also use this time to commend those who were able to escape and share their stories to encourage others who are still in the battle. These survivors are also walking inspirations. For me when I hear their stories recounting their experiences, it is tear jerking. Then, when they share how they were able to muster up the strength and courage to leave the situation, their strength really touches my heart and inspires me.

Although I am not a Domestic Violence victim, these warriors inspire me to always have the strength to leave any situation that hurts me and threaten my peace. These warriors also epitomizes the message that there is life after traumatic experiences and we will all emerge stronger. We must also recognize that there are some situations that we must leave rather than trying to repair them. I salute these warriors for their strength and their ability to inspire others.

This week I challenge you to reach out to a survivor and celebrate them for leaving. Also, if you know someone who is currently a victim, pick up the phone and call them. Let them know that you are always a phone call away and encourage them to get out in a timely and safe manner. Lastly, if you are facing a situation in your life that threatens your peace or hurts you, let it go rather than trying to fix it. We are All warriors in some aspect of our lives. We will all emerge stronger like a phoenix rising out of the ashes. We all have a story to share that will inspire others to evolve!

We Are All Warriors

October is finally here! We all know what that means, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is the time where we recognize and honor all the people who have fought the battle against breast cancer. Seeing all of the pink ribbon memorabilia really moves me. However, hearing the stories from survivors evokes a number of feelings that range from compassion to inspiration. Before I know it, I am weeping tears of joy. I salute these wonderful women! Witnessing survivors giving their testimony about how they won the fight really solidifies the message that if they can overcome such a tremendous battle, we all can conquer the battles in our lives.

The Bible says “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.” Romans 8:37. No matter what we are facing in our lives, we will survive. As the saying goes, what doesn’t kill us will make us stronger. We may not be facing the battle against cancer. However, their are other challenges that we face daily such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and other things that weigh us down.

Despite what we are going through we must believe the message of those Breast Cancer Survivors. We must believe in our abilities and trust that we too will overcome. Fight Like A Girl is their motto! This applies to any issue that we battle against. These survivors and all cancer survivors are walking inspirations. We must remember we are all warriors fighting our own unique battles. As we keep the faith and preserver, we too WILL WIN!

This week, I challenge you to look at any current battle in your life through the eyes of these survivors. Allow their stories to encourage you and inspire you to overcome. Trust in God to bring you through. Remember we are warriors and WE WILL WIN! Fight like a girl! Continue to be inspired in all things and evolve!

Make it Count

Welcome October! The fall is here, the leaves are turning, and the temperatures are dropping. We are in the last quarter of 2020, so let’s make it count. I know this year has been a rollercoaster year for us all. Everywhere I turn, I hear someone saying throw the whole year away! No we don’t have to. Let’s figure out a way to recover!

Currently, there are only 3 months left in this year. Just like a football game, we still have time to make a comeback. We have been limited this year due to the pandemic. However, that doesn’t mean we have to throw in the towel. We still have time to make moves and tie up loose ends on the things we started in the beginning of the year. Continue to be inspired and believe that you have the power to achieve your goals. Remember, it’s not about how you start; it’s how you finish. Work hard to set yourself in a great position to win in the year to come. Aspire to finish 2020 strong.

This week, I challenge you to think about how you plan to recover in this last quarter. Wrap up anything that you started that can realistically be done before the year ends. Revamp your resume if you desire a new job. Draw up your business plan and proposal if you desire to open a new business in 2021. Think about what it is that you desire to achieve before the year ends and what you aspire to achieve in the new year. This will help set you up to recover a win in 2020 and align yourself in a great position to start 2021 strong. Don’t fumble in this last quarter. There is still time on the clock. Continue to be inspired and evolve!

Don’t Rush

Do you believe in signs? Signs can come from anywhere and they show up when you least expect them. Well, I have to share with you the message I received this weekend. It was so unexpected and so right on time that it blew my mind when I received it.

So, I was in one of my moods this weekend. I was feeling so down and I really let the issue put a damper on my weekend (you know how it is when you get in a funk)! Well, anyway, I was riding in the car leaving a used bookstore that I love to visit and purchase books from. As I was talking to my husband about how I was feeling, I randomly opened one of the books that we had just purchased. As soon as I opened the book, a note card was tucked between the pages and it read, “Don’t rush the process!” The words leaped off the card and straight into my heart. All I could say was “Thank You Lord, I receive!” This one little sign on an index card brightened my day and changed my mood.

That said, I would like to pass along that same message to you this week. Don’t Rush the Process! Sometimes, we may feel like we are behind the curve and we may begin to feel gloom. Remember, there is a time, a reason, and a season for everything. We may feel like we are not where we are supposed to be. Then, we try to fix situations ourselves and rush the process. Not So! You are exactly where you are intended to be. If you don’t like where you are going, make plans and strides to change the trajectory of your course, but Don’t Rush! Continue to work hard on improving yourself and evolving, then you will begin to see things fall into place at the appointed time. Before you know it, you will look back and see how far you have progressed.

Also, be careful not to look at the lives of people around you and use them as a measuring stick for your life. Everyone has their own paths to follow and waters to charter. Doing this will only lead to your unhappiness. Instead, focus on your path and trust the process!

This week, I challenge you to Trust the Process! Don’t rush! Instead, choose to be content with where you are. If you see areas where you can improve, note it. Then, jot down some things that you plan to do to improve these areas. When making notes, remember to give yourself time and set realistic goals. Continue to put in the work and be intentional on your path to evolving and everything will fall in line at the perfect time! Enjoy life today and have patience! Be Inspired and Evolve!

Embrace Sisterhood

As we all know the Emmy’s aired on television last night. Although I didn’t have time to tune in, I was really hyped this year. It wasn’t the actual broadcast that had me excited, it was a social media post that really captivated me. Regina King, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Issa Rae took such an amazing photo that displayed the epitome of sisterhood. While all ladies prayed to take home the trophy, they still cheered each other on and offered well wishes to one another. Talk about Black Girl Magic at its finest! In essence, this is what our relationships with other women should embody. Now, think about the women in your circle. Do you hype each other up and wish that you all win? When one wins, do you view it as a gain for you all? This is the mentality that we should have when it comes to our sisters.

Being apart of a healthy sisterhood can be very inspiring. When you have sisters encouraging, motivating and celebrating you, it propels you to keep striving to attain your goals. Sisterhood offer so many gifts. You gain accountability partners, cheerleaders, counselors, and a host of other rewards. True sisterhood helps you develop. In some cases, your sisters who have already mastered what you are trying to achieve can provide you with a blueprint to success.

In my circle, many of my sisters are older than I am, so they provide sound advice and hold me accountable to anything I commit myself to. They will not let me give up! My sisters motivate me, cheer me on and inspire me to evolve. Conversely, I inspire them to keep achieving and never be afraid to try new things. We learn from and influence each other. Additionally, we value the contribution that all parties offer to our sisterhood. Since they are older and have achieved great things, their inspirational words to me are “You got next!” This keeps me on my path to success and evolving.

This week, I challenge you to identify your sisters who inspire you to keep building, growing, and evolving. Thank them for always being present when you need them and remind them why you value your sisterhood. Then, I challenge you to find out the latest goals that your sisters have created and share yours. Encourage your sisters to keep pressing and Remind them that you are rooting for them. When one of you finally reach your goal, go out and celebrate. Remember there is room for all of us to WIN! Let’s continue to be inspired by one another as we evolve!

Transforming Social Media

Social Media today is a way of life. We utilize social media for everything. We constantly have our phones or electronic devices in hand checking for updates, funny memes, videos, the latest celebrity updates and anything else we find enjoyable. Even our grandparents have adapted to the new wave and learned to use Facebook. Think about it, when we have any amount of spare time, what is the first thing we do? Check our Facebook,Instagram, Twitter and any other platforms that we have accounts on. Public Figures, Fortune 500 companies, and other business entities have even adopted social media as a way to network, market, and search for ideal candidates to join their organization. In knowing the pivotal role that social media plays in our daily life, this week, my challenge to you is to transform your social media accounts. Now I’m not saying you have to do a major overhaul and delete everyone that you’ve connected with. No! I’m just encouraging you to add more inspirational pages and figures to sprinkle a little more positivity and motivation in your timeline.

About two years ago, I was really going through a tough time. I envisioned my life going in a certain direction but I lacked motivation and found myself feeling stuck. I had to find a way to become inspired again and dig myself out of this foxhole that I was in. I tried fasting from social media but, I realized that I enjoyed utilizing those platforms and connecting with others. Therefore, I came up with another solution. Instead of doing away with social media all together, I decided to give my timeline a makeover. I added more inspirational pages and people who posted uplifting messages, quotes and videos to keep me going. Some of my favorites are Michelle Obama (love, love, love her), Cora Jakes, T.D. Jakes, Sarah Jakes, Grant Cardone and other business professionals. My community also includes religious leaders, moguls who inspire and even small business owners who are successful because they never gave up. This transformation which later lead to me creating Inspired2Evolve as a catalyst in making a difference. It’s truly to encourage others who are feeling like I felt 2 years ago and need a beacon of light to guide them through their tunnel. This is my way of reaching back and reaching as I climb.

This week, I challenge you to take a good look at all your social media accounts. Stroll through and assess your timeline. Ask yourself what message would others receive if they were to view your timeline. If it’s hard for you to find motivation, positivity, and inspiration in your news feeds, I encourage you to take my advice and follow some inspirational pages in addition to this one. Seeing those messages, affirmations, success stories and positive quotes will help motivate you throughout your day. Become inspired again and evolve!

Let It Take Root

Since the start of this blog, I have constantly expressed the importance of speaking positivity over yourself and adopting an optimistic mindset. Well, this week’s post echoes the same message. That said, my question that I would like to pose today is, What are you telling yourself daily? Are you speaking life or defeat when faced with challenges? Reflect on those question. If the answer is the latter of the two choices, let me make a suggestion. Try incorporating daily affirmations.

In a previous post, I wrote about how your thoughts determine your outcome. Whatever you think, you become and your thoughts shape your attitude. In knowing this, I encourage you to integrate affirmations in your daily routine. Affirmations are powerful and can alter the way you view and approach situations. You become better prepared to tackle a challenge when you condition your mind to believe that you WILL overcome. Speaking positivity over yourself and into the atmosphere, aloud, helps things begin to manifest because there is power in the tongue. Somehow putting your name on a statement adds power and helps fulfill what you believe in your life. Embrace some affirmations, jot them down, speak them into the atmosphere and let them take root in your heart. Believe that whatever you declare will come into fruition.

When you awaken in the morning, say “I AM, I Will, and I believe! For example, “I AM intelligent, I WILL not worry about things I cannot control, and I BELIEVE my life has purpose!” This week, I challenge you to write down a few affirmations using the template I provided. Then, I want you to make a conscious decision to watch your words. Constantly remind yourself of your affirmations throughout the course of the day. The more you repeat those words, the more they will take root in your heart. The goal this week is to uproot negativity and plant positivity and allow it to flourish in your heart and mind. Affirmations are powerful tools to utilize on your path to evolving!

Take Control Today

Sometimes in life, we adopt a “go with the flow” attitude. Sooner or later, we settle into a routine and find ourselves going through the motions instead of living life. We allow life to happen to us and eventually, we become complacent in our predictable lifestyles. All the dreams and goals that we set out to achieve are tucked away in the back of our minds; until we give up on them completely. Then, after years have passed and we think back on all the things we desired to do, but didn’t pursue, we convince ourselves that it’s too late to shift the direction of our lives. Wrong! It’s Never too late to take control!

Always remember, despite the decisions you have made (good or bad); or, the things that you have allowed, you can charter a new path. You may have allowed people and circumstances to control your life; but, you can make today the day that you seize control and say Enough! You possess power over your own happiness and destiny. Take this opportunity today to jump in the driver’s seat of your life and blaze a new path. You will never know what you will discover or achieve. Don’t be afraid of the unknown. If you lose a few people along the way, stay the course. This is a great opportunity to get to know yourself on a personal level. As long as there is still life in you, there is still time to achieve whatever you set your mind to.

This week, assess all areas of your life and evaluate the aspects that you desire to change. Afterwards, think about the realms that you need to assume responsibility over. Journal ideas about actions you can take, ways to shift the direction of those areas, and solutions to make improvements. Take charge today, be in control, become inspired again and evolve!

Your Thoughts determine your Outcome

“A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes”- Gandhi.

Currently, I’m on vacation and as I was entering the lobby of the resort, this quote was on display. Inspiration is truly everywhere; I especially find it in the most unexpected places. When I read the quote on the board, I felt compelled to write about it in this week’s post. We must remember that whatever we think determines our outcome. Inevitably, this shapes us into who we ultimately become. This must always be at the forefront of our minds as we take strides on our path to evolving.

As we progress daily toward achieving our goals, it is important for us to think positively and believe in ourselves. The Bible say, “For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he” Proverbs 23:7. If you want the best outcome, you must trust in yourself and your abilities. God has equipped us with so many talents and gifts that the world is just waiting on us to unlock and showcase. We are all unique and we must never doubt the power that we possess within us. Put your faith to work and put forth your best effort. Subsequently, you will find yourself tackling every goal and succeeding. One day, you will look back and see how far you have made it on your road to success. At that moment, you will realize how much you have evolved.

Personal Space

Omg! This is a topic that I am particularly big on. It’s extremely important to have an area designated just for you. We all play many different roles daily as parents, significant others, etc. However, I believe that we cannot give our best to others if we are not at our best to begin with. Think about it, how can you offer someone your best if you are drained and running on empty? It is vitally important for us to get away from the chaos and de-stress, hence the need for personal space.

Your personal territory should be somewhere isolated, even if it’s for only 30 minutes to an hour out of your day. It can be a secret closet, a vacant room in the house, or somewhere outside with a view. You should personalize this space by decorating it to fit your personal style and leaving your unique footprint. In my honest opinion, the most important thing about the personal space, is it should be a place that inspires you. When you enter this space, you should automatically relax, regroup, and allow your creative juices to flow. Start planning your next move or create a vision board to display as a daily reminder of your goals, dreams, and aspirations. If you are utilizing an outdoor open space, start a vision journal to have in this inspirational zone. Also, you could light a few candles, play some nice music and sip on your favorite wine (or coffee if you prefer) to set the tone. If you are feeling completely burnt out and want to dedicate this time to relaxing, pick up a good book or watch your favorite tv show to unwind. As previously mentioned, make this a private space for you to be alone. No distractions or disturbances. Get possessive and protect your space. Being secluded helps you focus and be free in your thought process. Become inspired anew when you enter your territory. This will help on your road to evolving!
